By now, many people reading this will already have their copy ofResident Evil Village, Capcom’s latestREgame which has become one of the most talked about titles this year. Whilereviews are suggesting thatVillageis a strong continuation of the franchisewith plenty of replay value, there may be some additional content which arguably could have added that bit extra but sadly didn’t make it into the final build.
A recent report has unearthed what seems to be some artwork from theResident Evil VillageDLCTrauma Packwhich reveals that fan favorite of the series, Ada Wong, may have originally been planned to make an appearance in the game, but was cut at the last minute. The artwork shows a concept drawing of Ada donned in a plague doctor costume whilst holding a crossbow. There’s also some storyboard drawings which depict her in action, bursting into rooms and firing on unsuspecting enemies.

Fans of theResident Evilgames seeAda Wong as something of a staple to the series, often depicted wearing a red dress and popping up unexpectedly over the course of the story. Her part inRE8was allegedly going to have her save Ethan with Ada investigating the goings-on in the village. However, according to captions in the concept art, her part was cut due to “conflicting scenarios.” It’s been revealed that she would have been disguised in her plague outfit before rescuing Ethan from his trial.
Despite the franchise carrying weight by itself, much of the focus during the marketing process has been on the game’s matriarchal figure, the 9ft Lady Dimitrescu. Although a towering villain who stalks Ethan throughout sections of the game,Lady Dimitrescu has become something of a memesince her announcement, taking the internet by storm with many fans intrigued by her lofty appearance. She continues Capcom’s trend of including an imposing antagonist in theResident Evilworld who appears throughout the game at various intervals to chase down the protagonist.
Prior to the game’s release,a timed demo ofResident Evil Villagewas released which allowed players to explore some of the village parts and some of the castle interior of the game in sixty minutes or less. Many were left heartily impressed by what they saw and played and if early reviews are anything to go by, the game is likely to go down a treat. Even without Ada being added to it.
